What can be done

The most important way to protect the Lookout Roadless Area is to get the Forest Service to:

1) acknowledge its real size (over 18,000 acres);
2) protect its roadless status by officially closing the jeep trail from Smith to Alder canyon. (this trail is virtually unused, and has been gated at the top for years). This is a very important step.
3) Get it designated as potential wilderness, thereby opening up the possibility of wilderness designation.
